Prince Leopold, Duke of Albany, Queen Victoria’s youngest son had died on 28 March 1884 in the Villa Nevada. At the beginning of April 1887 the Queen stayed for a few days at the Villa Edelweiss. She walked down to the Villa Nevada and ‘went in to see good Miss Perceval, who was most kind, & showed us her rooms, then taking us upstairs to the room, where poor darling Leopold breathed his last’.
