Ludwig Grünfeld produced landscapes, often of Romantic forest settings, between 1839 and 1875. This one includes a low waterfall rushing over boulders in the centre, flanked by trees and bushes in shadow on the right, and by a grassy bank on the left, upon which two men relax in conversation; in the background a rocky outcrop, and mountains in the distance.
