Monkeys of all varieties, in a range of poses, were produced in Fabergé's workshops and were clearly popular with all his customers. Four were purchased by the royal family from the London Branch between 1907 and 1916. There are now seven monkeys, four chimpanzees and one baboon in the Royal Collection. This charming and realistically modelled study of macaques, carved from a single piece of chalcedony is an example from the large number of animals purchased by King George V.
