A spear usually associated with the peoples on the borders of north-eastern India and Burma (now Myanmar). The spear has a long leaf-shaped steel blade in a tubular socket, on a wooden shaft decorated with characteristic tufts of black-, white- and red- dyed goat hair, and with a long, pointed, steel butt.
Provenance
Presented to King Edward VII, when Prince of Wales, during his tour of India in 1875-76.
