Soft paste Sèvres porcelain vase and cover. Beau bleu ground decorated with gilded decoration, oval shape with partly domed cover and pine cone finial, gilded female head herm handles, circular stem and foot mounted on square base. Gilded and painted in front reserve will illustration from Moreau: Histoire des Moeurs and the reverse reserve with a vase of flowers.
Provenance
Recorded in 1826 in the Bow Room, Principal Floor, Carlton House: ‘No.27. A seve Porcelain Vase and Cover of blue and gold, with therm handles and square plinth, one compartment painted in figures and the other in flowers. 16 In high’.
