A bronze figure of a bull with a dark brown patina, standing with head to the left and pawing the ground with his left foreleg. Set on a rectangular slate base. Inspired by representations from classical antiquity, Giovanni Bologna's pacing bull, created for the Great Duke Cosimo de Medici in 1573 (now at the Bargello Museum in Florence) was widely reproduced during the 17th and 18th centuries. This copy is probably French and was made some time in the 18th century.
