A silver-plated bronze cast of the Shield of Achilles, within a circular glazed bombé oak hanging display case.
Provenance
The original Shield of Achilles (RCIN 51266) was commissioned from Rundell, Bridge and Rundell in 1810 and supplied in 1821 for George IV's Coronation banquet.
This early bronze cast was silver-played by Dyson & Son of Windsor in 1935 and placed in a new glazed oak case (see Windsor Castle Inventory of Bronzes, no. 212). -
