A gilt-bronze and porcelain-mounted mantel clock surmounted by two putti flanking a small porcelain plaque, the case fitted with five further porcelain plaques of putti with a pendant satyr's head beneath and entwined ivy trails, on an elaborate gilt wood base. The eight day locking place striking mechanism has a going barrel movement and recoil excapement. The enamel dial has the 12 hours represented by Roman numerals and 5 minute intervals in arabic numbers and a pair of gilt pierced hands.
Provenance
There were at this time two Le Roy firms unrelated to one another and also to the famous Julien Le Roy 1686-1759, clockmaker to King Louis XV. This clock probably came from 211 Regent Street between 1866-75.
