A Louis XV mantel clock of assymetrical design crowned by a naked putto on a cloud within an arbour which rests on four incured scrolled feet supported on a pierced serpentine base. The clock and base splay out towards the back. Panels on all four sides are pierced with a trellis pattern lined with red silk.
The eight day locking plate striking mechanism has a going barrel movement and anchor recoil escapement. The enamel dial has the 12 hours represented in Roman numerals and 5 minute intervals in arabic numers, pair of pierced gilt hands.Provenance
