Photograph of a scene from the play 'Mr Pillycoddy' that was performed at Balmoral Castle. The performers are (from left to right): Princess Alexandra of Edinburgh, who stands with her back turned to Fraulein Passavant. The performers stand in front of a painted backdrop that depicts the inside of a house.
On the 2nd June 1894, Queen Victoria later recorded in her journal that she watched 'the most droll little play Mr "Pilly Caddy" [sic] in one act, [that] was performed Mr Yorke was simply killing, Major Legge very good & Ethel C. excellent, as the Maid of all work...Little Beatrice was charming in her one little scene, which Mr Yorke prepared for her.' -
