Photograph of a scene from the play 'Mr Pillycoddy' that was performed at Balmoral Castle. The performers are (from left to right): The Honourable Ethel Cadogan who stands in right side profile; Princess Alexandra of Edinburgh; Alexander Yorke who lies slumped in a chair; The Hon Harry Legge who wears a sailor's outfit and carries a telescope under his arm and Fraulein Passavant.
On the 2nd June 1894, Queen Victoria later recorded in her journal that she watched 'the most droll little play Mr "Pilly Caddy" [sic] in one act, [that] was performed Mr Yorke was simply killing, Major Legge very good & Ethel C. excellent, as the Maid of all work...Little Beatrice was charming in her one little scene, which Mr Yorke prepared for her.' -
