Photograph of the Three Fishers tableau that was performed at Balmoral Castle. In the background is a painted scene of waves breaking on the shoreline. From left to right are: Mr Grant, Mr Mackintosh, Mr Laird, Miss Victoria Profeit (possibly daughter of the Balmoral Factor, Dr Alexander Profeit 1834-97), Miss Victoria MacDonald. The scene portrays women who have just returned from a fishing trip and are busy pulling the boat up and emptying their nets.
This tableau was performed on Queen Victoria's 75th birthday in the Ballroom at Balmoral Castle as part of a birthday surprise. The Queen recorded in her journal that '[the tableau] was very touching illustrating Kingsley's beautiful poems and Beatrice sang the song during the tableau..the scenery was very effective.'
