Photograph of Stirling Castle, Scotland, from Ladies Rock. The castle stands on a high promontory in the background with a path leading up to the fortification in the middle ground, left of centre. Below the castle is a flat area of grass on which stand three statues together with an ornamental fountain. A boulder is in the left of the foreground.
This photograph is from a portfolio of 42 photographs taken by Wilson that were used to illustrate a book featuring entries from Queen Victoria's journals, written during her visits to Scotland. Leaves from the Journal of Our Life in the Highlands, was published to great success in 1868.Provenance
