Photogravure of Violet Florence Mabel Mond (née Goetze). Cropped into an oval, this head and shoulder portrait portrays Mond posed against a decorative backdrop that depicts a natural landscape. Photographed in profile, facing left, Mond's eyes are downcast. She wears a satin dress with decorative lace features, a light-coloured shawl and pearl drop earrings. Her hair is pinned off her neck, decorated with a jewel encrusted clip.
In the accompanying caption, Mond is described as possessing an "active interest in politics, and she is also very musical and artistic". Violet Mond's husband helped to found the Imperial War Museum in 1917-20.Provenance
