A humpback carriage clock in a silver case with a chain carrying handle and pad feet. The silver dial is engine turned with a chapter ring with the 12 hour represented by Roman numerals. A lunar calendar to the top and a perpetual calendar at the base. The eight day timepiece has a fusee movement and Swiss lever escapement.
Provenance
Philip Thornton of Great Haywood, Staffordshire was a highly regarded English clock specialist and cutter maker. In the immediate post war years he completed several silver cased humpbacked clocks; this first example was commissioned by Charles Frodsham & Co. Ltd. and was presented to Queen Elizabeth.
