Description

This photograph shows a details of the principal wedding cake supplied for the marriage of the Duke and Duchess of York. It was made by McVitie and Price, had four tiers, weighed over 350 kg and was nearly 3 metres high. Ingredients for the cake were sent by the Girl Guides of Australia. Two of the winged putti figurines shown standing here have survived in The Royal Collection (RCIN 55090).
