Photograph of John Macdonald and a dachshund called Boy. Mr Macdonald is sitting on a wooden bench at the Windsor kennels. Boy is sitting beside him to the left.
John Macdonald originally worked at Balmoral but came to Windsor in 1848 to be in charge of the kennels. Boy was an early favourite dachshund, born at the Windsor kennels in July 1857. His parents were Trump and Sybilla. He died on 20 February 1863.Provenance
