Photograph of the Guard Chamber, Windsor, showing the arms and armour display over the fireplace, with a blank space for the installation of a tapestry or painting. Over the doors are two paintings, Edward, the Black Prince on the left and King Edward III on the right (RCINs 404037 and 404044). Below, on either sides of the fireplace are bronze busts by Leone Leoni of Emperor Charles V and King Philip II of Spain (RCINs 35325 and 35323) and a small equestrian bronze statue of King Louis XV of France (RCIN 2128). On the mantelpiece is a pair of candelabra in the form of putti holding up a tray of 'lights' (RCINs 31458).
The print is loose, it is not comtemporary with the photographs in the album. Two other photographs were originally stuck on the page and captioned, but were been removed by unknown person at unknown time. Another print, very similar to this photograph, has been dated 1935, which would date it after the removal of bronze roundels that used to decorate this room between 1902 and 1914. The roudels were taken to Paris in 1914 by King Edward VII.Provenance
