Photograph of King Charles II's Dining Room, formerly known as the State Ante Room, with the original Verrio painted ceiling. Above the marble chimney is the stained glass painting of George III, copied from Reynolds, by James Pearson (RCIN 69047) since removed and replaced with the painting of St Agnes by Domenichino (RCIN 404982) and again by Catherine of Braganza by Huysmans. On either sides are mirrors, which reflects light on the stained glass. On the right is a Gobelins tapestry from the Les Portieres des Dieux series (RCIN 45256) and an ornate pier table with two jars, below. Further to right are skylights which were installed in the 1860s. A lacquer cabinet is placed in front of another tapestry, companion to the other one. Two bronze candelabra in the form of putti by Vuillamy (RCIN 31458) are placed on the mantlepiece.
The stained-glass panel of George III by James Pearson is now on long-term loan to the Stained Glass Museum in Ely.Provenance
