Princess Stephanie was born in the Royal Castle of Laeken, Belgium on 21 May 1864. Her father was Leopold II, Duke of Brabant, later King of the Belgians and her mother, Marie Henriette, Duchess of Brabant, later Queen Consort of the Belgians. On 10 May 1881, Princess Stéphanie married the Crown Prince Rudolf of Austria and together they had a daughter, Princess Elisabeth Marie. In 1900, following her husband's death in an apparent suicide pact with his lover, Baroness Mary Vetsera, Princess Stéphanie married Count Elemér Lónyay de Nagy-Lónya et Vásáros-Namény at Miramare in Italy. Princess Stephanie died in Hungary on the 23 August 1945. -
