Photograph of Grand Duke George Alexandrovich (1871-99) of Russia seated on the left and wearing a lace gown. On the right is also seated Grand Duke Nicholas (1868-1918), later Nicholas II of Russia, who faces the viewer and wears a sailor outfit. 

Grand Dukes Nicholas and George were the sons of Alexander III of Russia and Maria Feodorovna. They were born at the Alexander Palace in St Petersburg. George died of bronchitis on the 9 August 1899. George's death left a lasting impression on the Imperial Family and he was buried in St Petersburg on the 14 August 1899.
