Photograph of Lady Desborough, three-quarters-length portrait, seated and looking downwards. She wears a fur-lined coat or dress with a heavily embroidered skirt. Lady Ethel was an occasional Lady in Waiting to Queen Mary and society hostess, and in the early 20th century belonged to 'The Souls', an intellectual aristocratic group.
