A carte-de-visite portrait of John Bright, a Radical and Liberal politician, who campaigned for the repeal of the Corn Laws, which were tariffs on imported grains to keep the price of British grain high, but which made bread expensive for working people. He is considered one of the greatest Victorian orators.
