Circular photograph of Queen Victoria (1837-1901), standing in the garden of Abergeldie. Queen Victoria is stooping, poking with a stick, and wearing a bonnet and embroidered cape. One of four photographs on an album page in individual mounts, with no captions, taken on Princess Alexandra's No.1 Kodak camera.
Queen Victoria mentions in her journal for Thursday 9th October 1890, a visit to Abergeldie Castle, where the Waleses were staying, to say goodbye to Princess Alexandra and her daughter Princess Victoria, who were leaving on that day. She also writes that Princess Louise was there with her husband, Alexander Duff, Duke of Fife.
This image has the Queen's head as its centre, while her figure becomes a segment of the circle and her pointing stick is reminiscent of the hand of a clock.
