Photograph of Alexandra Feodorovna, Empress of Russia. She is sitting looking to the right, holding a fan in her right hand. She is wearing a heavily embellished dress, a tiara with hanging teardrop pearls and a lace veil. There is a long glove on her left hand and her jewellery includes the diamond chain of the Order of St Andrew. There is a dark backdrop draped behind her. Alexandra Feodorovna, formerly Princess Alix of Hesse, was the consort of Nicholas II, Emperor of Russia. Along with their children they were murdered by the Bolsheviks in 1918.
