She is wearing Russian court dress including a sash, tiara and veil and is holding a folded fan. The photograph has been annotated 'Yr loving Alix 1895' and 'For darling Thora'. Alexandra Feodorovna, formerly Princess Alix of Hesse, married Nicholas II at the Winter Palace on the 26th of November 1894. This cabinet card was sent as a gift to her cousin Princess Helena Victoria of Schleswig-Holstein.
