Bust-length photograph of Tsesarevich Nicholas, later Nicholas II. He is facing the camera and there is a doorway behind. The photograph has been cut into a rough heart shape and signed 'Nicky 1894' at the top right corner. It forms a pair with RCIN 2926889, a photograph of Princess Alix of Hesse, both having been cut from an official engagement photograph. The couple married at the Winter Palace on the 26th of November 1894. The wedding took place just weeks after Nicholas II became Emperor following the early death of his father Alexander III.
