-
Bust-length photograph of Princess Alix of Hesse, later Alexandra Feodorovna. She is facing the camera and is wearing a hat with a feather. Part of a doorway and a climbing plant can be seen behind her. The photograph has been cut into a rough heart shape and signed 'Alise' at the top left corner. It forms a pair with RCIN 2926890, a photograph of Tsesarevich Nicholas, both having been cut from an official engagement photograph. The couple married at the Winter Palace on the 26th of November 1894. The wedding took place just weeks after Nicholas II became Emperor following the early death of his father Alexander III.
