She is wearing a close fitting jacket and a hat. There is a painted backdrop behind and the photograph is signed and dated 'Alix 1887'. Princess Alix of Hesse married Nicholas II, Emperor of Russia at the Winter Palace on the 26th of November 1894. Along with their children they were murdered by the Bolsheviks in 1918.
