Both boys are wearing sailor suits. Nicholas II and Grand Duke George Alexandrovich were the eldest surviving sons of Alexander III, Emperor of Russia. This photograph was taken during a summer holiday at the Fredensborg Palace in Denmark, where annual family gatherings were hosted by their maternal grandfather King Christian IX.
