A page of 17 photographs of the royal party having a picnic on the beach at Mallorca, during the 1905 Mediterraean cruise; and sea views. The people who can be identified are: Don Bartolome Bosch y Cerda (Consul to Majorca and Minorca) (in the first photo), King Edward VII, Ibard, (?) Salisbury with a camera, Charlotte Knollys, Lady Louise Antrim, Admiral Milne, Sidney Greville, Prince Charles of Denmark, Princess Maud, Queen Alexandra. Some of the picnic snaps were probably taken by James Gascogne-Cecil, 4th Marquess of Salisbury (1861-1947), who later presented an album to Queen Alexandra of this cruise (RCIN 2582129).
Queen Alexandra wrote the caption: 'Our picnic near the sea - drove & walked about lovely country - Consul Bosch came with us'. A large commercial photograph of the Franciscan monastery in the old city of Palma is sandwiched in between pages 47 and 48.
From a blue leather bound album stamped with 'Vol.1 Mediterranean Cruise, 1905' with Queen Alexandra's cypher on top left corner of the album. -
