A page of eleven photographs from an album of the Mediterranean Cruise, some taken by Alexandra, Princess of Wales, later Queen Alexandra, on the occasion of the christening of Prince Frederick (1899-1972), the future King Frederick IX of Denmark. They feature groups standing by a balustrade or balcony, people walking, including Gustof Blixen [?], Dowager Maria 'Minny' Feodorovna (1847-1928), Valdemar, Prince of Denmark (1858-1939); King Christian IX (1818-1906) and his daughter Princess Thyra of Cumberland (1853-1933) and her three daughters Marie Louise (1879-1948), Alexandra (1882-1963) and Olga (1884-1958), and others. Amongst the informal photographs is a studio photograph of King Christian IX, his son Prince Frederick (1843-1912), grandson Prince Christian (1870-1947) and great-grandson Prince Frederick, all future Kings of Denmark.
While on the Mediterranean Cruise, Queen Alexandra, Charlotte Knollys and General Clarke made a detour to Copenhagen by way of Frankfurt, in order to attend the christening of her great-nephew, the future King Frederick IX at Sorgenfri Palace, which was the summer residence of King Christian X.
The captions are written in purple and red ink by Queen Alexandra. The main caption reads: 'Minny, Papa, Thyra & girls & Waldemar walking! Christian & Adini's eldest boys's Xreing [sic, should read christening] took place on the 9th April. His names are Christian Frederick Franz Michael Carl Waldemar George'. -
