Photograph of the central pool within the Court of the Myrtles in the Alhambra Palace, Granada, Spain. A rectangular pool dominates the foreground and a large door featuring geometric designs and a semi circular grill above it, opens onto the pool. A terrace featuring a series of Moorish arches supported by marble pillars with a sloping roof, runs around the outside edge of the court.
The court was so named due to the green myrtle bushes that grow on either side of the pool. The pool stands to the west of the Court of the Lions within the Alhambra Palace. To the north of the Court of the Myrtles is the Comares Palace which formed part of the Royal residence.Provenance
