Photograph of the sculpture of Britanni and Australia by George Halse (1826-1895). The work was exhibited at the Royal Academy in 1865. The sculpture depicts Britannia who, standing on the right, pulls a covering from Australia, represented as a young girl. The title of the piece, 'Advance Australia', is inscribed on the roundel supporting the two figures. Behind Australia can just be seen the figure of a Kangaroo.
