Photograph of part of the exhibition building during construction, taken from a high advantage view, showing three sides of the guilding, one side is bricked, piles of building material on ground; trees in distance (possibly Hyde Park). The International Exhibition of 1862 was intended as a sequel to the Crystal Palace Exhibition of 1851 in Hyde Park; it was designed by Captain Francis Fowke (1823-65) and constructed on land in South Kensington that is now the Natural History Museum.
