Photograph of part of the exhibition building during construction, showing part of the cast-iron structure and roof of one of the halls. The International Exhibition of 1862 was intended as a sequel to the Crystal Palace Exhibition of 1851 in Hyde Park; it was designed by Captain Francis Fowke (1823-65) and constructed on land in South Kensington that is now the Natural History Museum.
