Photograph of the Jai Vilas Palace in Gwalior, India.
Built in 1803, the Jai Vilas Palace is a showcase of European architectural styles that decorate the three storeyed building. It was designed by Sir Michael Filose for Maharaja Jayaji Rao Scindia (1843-86). Prince George and Princess Mary of Wales visited the Palace where they arrived on elephants, on the 20th December 1905 during their tour of India. They were received at the palace by the Maharaja Madho Rao Scindia of Gwalior (1876-1925) who entertained them at a Durbar. -
