Photograph of the Throne Pavilion erected as part of the Delhi Durbar of 1877 in which Queen Victoria was proclaimed Empress of India. The pavilion stood in the centre of the plain where the Durbar took place and is hexagonal in shape. The base is constructed from stone, complete with iron railings. The roof is made from red, white and blue satin with pennants, at the top of which is the Imperial Crown. The base of the pavilion also features the 'Victoria Imperatrix' monogram, flanked by the Royal Standard. On the left of the pavilion stand a group of men and on the right, two mounted soldiers on horseback who wear pith helmets.
