Photograph of The amphitheatre or semi-circular audience stand, erected for the Delhi Durbar of 1877. The stand housed European dignitaries and Indian rulers and was built on a foundation of white stone with a fabric roof decorated with trefoil designs and pennants in the medieval style. Spectators are seated underneath. On the far left stands a British soldier who faces the viewer and wears a pith helmet.
