Photograph of King Edward VII (1841-1910) and Nicholas II, Emperor of Russia (1868-1918) speaking to naval officers on the deck of a yacht in the Bay of Reval. Nicholas II is standing to the left and King Edward VII to the right, both speaking to officers. They are both wearing naval uniform. There is a large number of naval officers standing on the deck around them. In June 1908 King Edward VII and Nicholas II, Emperor of Russia met in the Bay of Reval, now Tallinn. As well as a family gathering the meeting served an important diplomatic purpose in the aftermath of the 1907 Anglo-Russian Entente, which settled colonial disputes and instigated the Triple Entente.
