Photograph of King Edward VII (1841-1910), Nicholas II, Emperor of Russia (1868-1918) and Dowager Empress Maria Feodorovna (1847-1928) standing together on the deck of a yacht in the Bay of Reval. King Edward VII and Nicholas II are wearing naval uniform and the Dowager Empress is wearing an embroidered cape and a hat decorated with flowers. Two naval officers stand behind them. In June 1908 King Edward VII and Nicholas II, Emperor of Russia met in the Bay of Reval, now Tallinn. As well as a family gathering the meeting served an important diplomatic purpose in the aftermath of the 1907 Anglo-Russian Entente, which settled colonial disputes and instigated the Triple Entente.
