Photograph of King Edward VII (1841-1910) and Dowager Empress Maria Feodorovna (1847-1928) with other members of their families on the deck of a yacht in the Bay of Reval. King Edward VII is walking at the front of the group, his right arm raised in a salute. Dowager Empress Maria Feodorovna walks beside him wearing an embroidered cape and a hat. Other ladies follow behind and there is a line of naval officers to the right. To the left are the ship's chimneys. In June 1908 King Edward VII and Nicholas II, Emperor of Russia met in the Bay of Reval, now Tallinn. As well as a family gathering the meeting served an important diplomatic purpose in the aftermath of the 1907 Anglo-Russian Entente, which settled colonial disputes and instigated the Triple Entente.
