-
Photograph of King Edward VII (1841-1910) boarding a yacht in the Bay of Reval. He is standing at the edge of the deck, wearing naval uniform and raising his right arm in a salute. A small group of naval officers are greeting him and many more line the deck. To the left are the ship's chimneys and two more boats can be seen in the water to the right. In June 1908 King Edward VII and Nicholas II, Emperor of Russia met in the Bay of Reval, now Tallinn. As well as a family gathering the meeting served an important diplomatic purpose in the aftermath of the 1907 Anglo-Russian Entente, which settled colonial disputes and instigated the Triple Entente.
