-
Photograph of King Edward VII (1841-1910) greeting Alexandra Feodorovna, Empress of Russia (1872-1918) on the deck of a yacht in the Bay of Reval. King Edward VII is wearing naval uniform and raising his right arm in a salute. Alexandra Feodorovna stands in front of him, her back to the camera, wearing a light coloured coat with a lace trim and a hat. Naval officers stand around them, all saluting. In June 1908 King Edward VII and Nicholas II, Emperor of Russia met in the Bay of Reval, now Tallinn. As well as a family gathering the meeting served an important diplomatic purpose in the aftermath of the 1907 Anglo-Russian Entente, which settled colonial disputes and instigated the Triple Entente.
