He is wearing ceremonial military uniform with a sash and medals, a fur cloak and spectacles. There is a painted wall behind him. This is one of a series of photographs of foreign representatives who attended the coronation of Nicholas II, Emperor of Russia. The coronation was held at the Kremlin on the 26 May 1896. The celebrations lasted for several weeks and were attended by many foreign royals and dignitaries.
