Photogravure of the representatives of Japan present at the coronation of Nicholas II, Emperor of Russia. There are nine men arranged in a group with five seated and four standing behind. Yamagata Aritomo (1838-1922), the Ambassador Extrodinary, is sitting at the centre of the group. All are wearing ceremonial military uniform or formal dress. There is a painted wall behind them. The coronation of Nicholas II, Emperor of Russia was held at the Kremlin on the 26 May 1896. The celebrations lasted for several weeks and were attended by many foreign royals and dignitaries.
