Photograph of Haile Selassie, Emperor of Abyssinia (Ethiopia) in coronation robes and a crown: half length portrait, turned to his right, in elaborately decorated mantle; vignette, which is signed by the sitter. In a mount with a gold border; photographers blind stamp on the mount at bottom right. Annotated on verso: 'The Emperor of Abyssinia / from the Queen March 17/32' and 'Windsor'.
Ras (Prince) Tafari Makonnen was crowned Emperor of Abyssinia on November 2 1930, when he took the name Haile Selassie (meaning 'Might of the Trinity').Provenance
