Description

Cabinet card photograph of Nihal Singh (1863-1901), The Maharajah of Dholpur. He stands full length, facing the viewer, wears a turban and uniform, and holds a ceremonial sword. Behind him to the left is a book resting on a table covered by draped fabric, and to the right stands a chair. Annotated - or signed? - on the verso of the mount: Nihal Singh.

Nihal Singh ruled Dholpur from 1873 until 1901.
