-
A photograph of Princess Victoria aged about fifteen years old; half-length portrait, in left profile, in a spotty dress with high collar, long hair partly tied up and a short fringe, holding a posy of flowers; vignette.
Princess Victoria was the fourth child of King Edward VII and Queen Alexandra. She never married and was companion to her mother, who had progressive hearing loss and therefore became increasingly isolated. After her mother died in 1925, she lived at Coppins in Iver, Buckinghamshire, not far from Windsor. She was close to her brother King George V, who was very much affected by her death on 3 December 1935; he died a month later in Sandringham. -
