Princess Louise was the third chid and eldest daughter of Queen Alexandra and King Edward VII, and bought up mostly at Sandringham House and Marlborough House in London. She married Alexander Duff, 1st Duke of Fife in 1889 and they had two daughters Princesses Alexandra and Maud (their only son Alastair was still born in 1890).
